GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION OF NEMASYM TRAVEL FUNDING

2010 meeting imageStudents, postdoctoral associates, and core participants may apply for Travel Funding to attend NEMASYM meetings and workshops.

The 2nd NEMASYM RCN meeting will be held at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona from November 11th to 14th, 2010.

Funding  to a maximum of  $1,200 (US) will be given to to help defray costs of attendance to the RCN meeting. The funding total is for up to 25 participants. For international core-participants, NEMASYM-RCN will be able to provide support for expenses incurred in the US, including per diem and accommodations, as well as the US portion of your travel.

Participants will be reimbursed in the form of a “stipend” upon attendance to the meeting.

The applicant is required to submit an abstract of his/her research to be presented in an oral or poster presentation at the meeting.

To apply, you must be a postdoctoral associate or student enrolled in a university degree program (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.) or a core participant and be a member of a laboratory studying nematode-bacterium symbioses.

Required information

  1. Curriculum vitae. Include your name, address, institution, earned degrees, current degree program, honors and awards, research experience, and a list of publications and previous presentations.
  2. Project description and conference goals. Describe your scientific interests and goals and provide an explanation of how attending this meeting will benefit you.
  3. A letter from your supervisor providing: (1) a recommendation, (2) verification of your status, and (3) confirmation that the research presented was conducted by you (if you are not listed as the first author of the abstract you submit, your supervisor must explain your specific role in the research and how you have met this requirement).
  4. Presentation abstract. The abstract submission form is located here. (You must be logged onto NemaSym to access the form).

Committee decisions: August 1st, 2010

Successful applicants will receive an official communication and should confirm their acceptance and participation as soon as possible.
